Rites of Passage
As a disciple of Renaissance Literature, one might assume that the gift of penning verses came naturally to me. The passing years have since taught me otherwise. It was not until a tome of authorship landed in my hands five years ago, that I began to question why I wrote in the first place. For years prior, I had scribbled at leisure, lacking any true intent or purpose, for it was simply a thing that I enjoyed. Yet, upon deeper reflection, I realized that my writing was but a reflection of my innermost being - a means to express my deepest emotions in the face of life's trials and tribulations.
Whilst writing brought me solace, there were moments when it felt a true challenge to transfer my thoughts onto paper. Nevertheless, I refused to surrender, and with unyielding perseverance, I established rituals and techniques to help me focus and write with efficacy. I allotted specific times each day to writing, formed a routine, and maintained a personal journal for unencumbered expression without the fear of reproach.
As I persisted in my craft, I ventured into new genres and forms - poetry, short stories, essays - each work aiding in my discovery of new techniques and styles to incorporate into my writing. I also sought the critique of trusted kin, a necessary tool for improvement and the identification of areas requiring growth.
Through this journey of self-discovery, I developed a distinct voice and style, one that resonated with my very essence and experiences. Writing became an indelible aspect of my life, a source of joy and fulfillment, enabling me to explore and connect with the world in novel and thrilling ways. As my passion flourished, I made the decision to enroll in a creative writing course at the local college. It was a turning point in my writing career, as I came to understand the value of constructive critique in bolstering my skills as a wordsmith. The comments of my peers and instructor revealed my work from different angles, and instilled in me the importance of revision and meticulous editing.
The course also introduced me to a vast range of literature, from contemporary fiction to experimental poetry. Reading the works of other writers awakened in me an understanding of the elements of storytelling and the creation of compelling characters and plotlines. It also opened up a world of possibilities in the manipulation of language and structure for an entirely unique voice.
Following completion of the course, I continued to write and sought counsel from fellow wordsmiths. I joined a writing group, attended workshops and conferences, all of which provided a community of like-minded individuals who shared my devotion for the written word. Through these interactions, I delved into the publishing industry and honed my skills in submitting my work for consideration.
Thus was the foundation laid for a writing career that would traverse unpredictable paths. As I experimented with diverse genres and styles, an unparalleled opportunity arose to serve as a writing assistant. Little did I know that this experience would become a defining chapter in my personal narrative as a writer. As a writing assistant, I was charged with the task of supporting Chinese scholars seeking their Master's degrees in English-speaking countries, who were struggling with the rigours of writing in English. Whilst these scholars were erudite in their respective fields, they found themselves at a loss, struggling to convey their ideas coherently in a language that was not their own. That's where I found purpose.
Guiding these scholars on their writing journeys was no mean feat, yet it was intrinsically fulfilling. I toiled with each of them to refine their writing, from the intricacies of crafting thesis statements to the finer points of citation techniques. Together, we laboured to surmount the linguistic barriers and achieve their academic goals.
Through this experience, I developed a deep appreciation for the power of writing to transcend cultural and linguistic boundaries. It also provided me with valuable insights into the writing process and the challenges that writers face. By helping these students achieve their academic success, I became a more skilled and empathetic writer myself. Today, I continue to write and share my knowledge with others, always striving to improve and connect with my readers through the written word.

This is indeed engaging. Keep the flag flying, brother!
Normally, articles can be boring sometimes. But I somehow couldn't tear my gaze from each word, line and paragraph until the very end. And that's what I think makes your writing spectacular. It steals attention. Well done. I'd like to read more of your writings.
